If you’re not from the city, traveling in Las Vegas may seem like a nightmare. If you are just a tourist or person passing through, it can be less than relaxing when it comes to transportation in this large city. Las Vegas has a population of over 2 million and this isn’t counting the many tourists and travelers that visit each and every day. This means there are a lot of people everywhere you go.
Traffic can be very intense making driving in the city very difficult, especially when you don’t know your way around. Public transportation exists to make traveling a bit easier on tourists but this can be tricky as well if you don’t know what you’re doing or where you’re going.
Your best bet is to learn as much as you can about traveling in Las Vegas before you actually leave for your trip and everything will be much easier for you once you get there. One option that you have for public transportation is the Las Vegas Monorail. This is an affordable option for singles, couples and small groups who are traveling. However, if you have a large group, the Monorail does not offer discounts so this might get a bit expensive.
Another option that you have for traveling in Las Vegas is the CAT, Citizens Are Transit bus line. This is a city bus with 49 routes throughout all of Las Vegas and the surrounding areas. This bus line has extended hours and even 24 hour routes in some popular areas. There are all day passes and 30-day passes which are also available to help you save even more.
Another option is the taxi. You see these used a lot in television and Hollywood scenes of Las Vegas and they are an affordable option. If you are going to be traveling with more than one or two people, this might be the most affordable option for you. In Las Vegas, you don’t have to pay any taxi surcharges for extra passengers but you should include a tip of about 15% of the fare and add $1 per bag you’re carrying into your tip as well.
You may find that you need to make use of more than one method of transportation while visiting Las Vegas. For example, you may arrange for a cab to and from the airport but use the Monorail while in the city. Many places you want to visit can be found by walking, for example, if you spend the evening on The Strip so you have that as an advantage also.
